INTERMEDIAL NOVEL
BEYOND THE SILVER SCREEN
This contemporary novel follows a father taking his son to his favourite movie theatre. After realising his father is there on a date, the son journeys, literally, through the theatre's IMAX screen itself. His father chases him through (and into pre-existing films) to find him.
The narrative explores their troubled relationship as they interact with key existing movie storylines from 00s Blockbuster Franchises, 90s Rom-coms, 80s Horrors, 70s War-Dramas, 60s Science-Fiction and 50s Westerns, to discover why we attach identities to eras/films that redesigned outlooks/beliefs and bridged generational understandings.

Spanning 70 years of cinema, it will examine film’s influence on social, cultural, individual and generational identities/relationships, to discover: Are we more influenced by film or is film more influenced by us?
